MARSHALL, Texas – The Rust College baseball program clung to a 7-5 edge heading into the final frame, but a two-run dinger tied the game before an RBI-double snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in a heartbreaking 8-7 setback in seven.

Rust Top Performers:

• JaShaun Franks went deep for a two-run blast to take sole possession of the team's home run lead (3), giving the Blue and White the advantage in the top of the first on his way to a 2-for-3 day.

• Jackson Bryant had the best stat line on the pitching staff, hurling 4.1 innings of three-run ball (two earned) while walking nobody and striking out a pair on top of four hits sprinkled in.

• Kyron Baker took his pinch-running role to its max capability, scoring once and stealing second base twice.

• Devin Tallington and Rashid Muhammad logged the other two base knocks for the visiting Cats as the latter eventually came all the way around to touch the plate.

• Matthew LeBlanc and Jalik Demar recorded ribbies as well with the former crossing the dish in those seven frames of hardball.
