Pilots Women's Basketball Defeats No. 25 Bearcats in Second Bout of the Season

Shreveport, Louisiana— In a highly anticipated rematch, the LSU Shreveport Pilots' women's basketball team secured a significant victory over the Rust College Bearcats, triumphing with a final score of 68-59. With the win the Pilots improve to a season record of 6-2.

The game unfolded with an early surge from the Bearcats, who quickly put up seven points, holding the Pilots to a single free throw. However, the Pilots swiftly mounted a six-point comeback to even the score, setting the tone for a fiercely contested first quarter. As the quarter concluded, the Pilots found themselves trailing 13-15. They shot 5-16 from the field and 3-4 from the free-throw line, while the Bearcats were 6-19, with one three-pointer and two made free throws.

The Pilots surged back in the second quarter, seizing their first lead of the game. Outscoring the Bearcats 19-13 in the quarter, the Pilots entered halftime with a four-point lead. Alexis Brown played a pivotal role in the comeback, knocking down three three-pointers in the quarter, contributing to seven of the Pilots' field goals.

Determined to maintain their momentum, the Pilots dominated the start of the third quarter, preventing the Bearcats from scoring for nearly five minutes and putting up ten points of their own. The Pilots outscored the Bearcats 21-8 in the quarter, establishing a significant lead. Despite the Bearcats' comeback efforts and a high-pressure defensive system, they could not close the gap created by the Pilots.

In the end, the Pilots sailed to a 68-59 victory, securing an impressive win over the #25-ranked Bearcats. Alexis Brown led the scoring charge with 22 points, showcasing sharpshooting skills by going 7-11 from the field with five three-pointers and a perfect 3-3 at the free-throw line.
