Rust College Women’s Basketball Dominates in First HBCUAC Crossover Pod Series

Rust College opened the series with an impressive 68-58 victory over Philander Smith College. Four players scored in double figures, and Michaela Payton delivered a standout performance, recording a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The team followed up with a commanding 72-53 win against the University of the Virgin Islands, where Michaela Payton had a monster game, posting another double-double with 23 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Once again, four players scored in double figures, underscoring the Lady Bearcats' balanced and collaborative approach.

Head Coach Jaleesa Sams praised her team's efforts, saying, "These two wins were huge for our program and a testament to the hard work and commitment of our players. Michaela Payton's performances were incredible, and the entire team's ability to execute under pressure is exactly what we need to keep building momentum."

The Lady Bearcats will look to carry their momentum into the next conference crossover pod series, which will take place from January 4 through January 7 at Talladega College.
