Rust College Men’s Basketball Head Coach Howard White Earns 100th Career Win

Since taking over the Rust College Men's Basketball program, White has led the Bearcats to 10 conference wins over the past two seasons and guided them to the HBCU Athletic Conference Tournament last year, where they battled before falling to Talladega.

 

A native of Wilmot, Arkansas, White has built a strong coaching résumé across multiple levels of college basketball. In his first season in the NAIA, he led Edward Waters College to a 16-12 overall record, despite the program being ineligible for postseason play while competing against a mix of NAIA and SIAC opponents. Prior to his time in Florida, White made a major impact at Mississippi University for Women (MUW), leading the women's basketball team to a USCAA Division I National Championship in 2019, earning USCAA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year honors in the process.

 

White's head coaching success began at Concordia College (Selma) in Alabama, where he guided the Lady Hornets to two USCAA Division I National Titles and recruited four All-Americans to the now-closed HBCU. His journey also includes assistant coaching stops at Aiken Tech, Benedict College, St. Augustine's, Bethune-Cookman, and North Florida.

 

Reflecting on his milestone, White expressed gratitude for his players and staff, stating, "Reaching 100 wins is a testament to the hard work of every player, coach, and supporter who has been part of this journey. I'm proud of what we've accomplished, but we still have more work to do. Our focus remains on getting better every day and competing at the highest level."

 

Coach White and the Bearcats will look to build on their momentum as they hit the road this week to face conference opponents Voorhees University on January 23 and Talladega College on January 25.
