Rust College’s Ashanti Murrell Named HBCUAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Murrell played a crucial role in the team's success during last week's series against Dillard University. Sharing pitching duties with teammates Leona Joshua, Ayanna Williams, and Rha'Khaya Jones, Murrell delivered a clutch performance in the decisive game of the series — recording two key strikeouts to seal a hard-fought 6-4 victory and secure the 2-1 series win for Rust.

"Ashanti showed incredible poise in a pressure moment," said Coach Vivians. "Her ability to step up and deliver when her team needed it most was a major factor in clinching the series."

The Bearcats now turn their focus to postseason play, as they head to the HBCUAC Softball Championship in Decatur, Alabama. Rust will face Oakwood University in their opening matchup on April 23rd.
