Rust College Softball Wraps Up Historic Season with Strong Postseason Finish

After falling in their opening playoff game to Oakwood University, Rust responded impressively with back-to-back wins — shutting out Talladega College 3-0 and defeating Oakwood University 6-4 — before narrowly being edged out in the semifinals by Dillard University.

The Bearcats finished the season strong, going 7-7 in the month of April, a testament to their grit and improvement. This year's team also celebrated several historic milestones:
  • First-ever win over Lane College
  • Doubled their total win count compared to last season
  • Improved conference record compared to last season
  • More wins over the past three seasons than any period since the early 2000s
Individual accolades capped off the team's impressive progress:
  • Three players earned HBCUAC Player of the Week honors during the season
  • Leona Joshua was named All-HBCUAC First Team Pitcher and selected to the All-Tournament Team
  • Cianna Role was also selected to the All-Tournament Team, recognizing her outstanding postseason performance
"This group of young women demonstrated remarkable growth and heart all year," said Head Coach Kendrick Vivians. "They laid a strong foundation for the future of Rust College Softball, and I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments both on and off the field." As the Bearcats continue to build momentum, the future of Rust College Softball looks brighter than ever.
