Rust College Baseball Wraps Up Season With Notable Improvement and All-Conference Honors

The Bearcats' season came to an end in the opening round of the HBCUAC Tournament with a tough loss to Wiley College and Stillman College. Despite the early exit, the season was highlighted by a dominant 27-7 victory over Wilberforce, showcasing the team's offensive firepower and resilience.

Several Bearcats earned conference recognition for their individual efforts:

  • Malik Berrien and Kyrent Cole were both named to the All-HBCUAC First Team for their outstanding performances throughout the season.

  • Berrien also earned HBCUAC Player of the Week honors for March 17–23 and has been selected to compete in the prestigious Minority Prospects HBCU All-Star Game in Charlotte, NC, on May 31st.

  • Jalik Demar and Shamaar Stapleton earned spots on the All-HBCUAC Second Team, further solidifying the Bearcats' reputation for developing high-level talent.

"Our team took a big step forward this year," said Head Coach John Bates. "We saw real growth not just in the win column, but in the maturity, chemistry, and competitiveness of this group. The individual honors are well deserved, and we're excited about the foundation we're building for the future."

With a core of talent returning and strong recruiting efforts underway, the Bearcats are poised to continue their upward trajectory in the HBCUAC next season.
