Rust College Hosts Inaugural Mississippi Association of Players (MAP) Baseball All-Star Game

Rust College Hosts Inaugural Mississippi Association of Players (MAP) Baseball All-Star Game

The MAP All-Star event featured standout high school players who were drafted into two squads:
  • The Blue Team, coached by Chandler Dillard of Ridgeland High School
  • The Red Team, coached by Quavante McGregory of Clarksdale High School
Players experienced a full week on Rust's campus, living in the dormitories and engaging in team-building activities. Off the field, student-athletes participated in college readiness programs, including presentations by Rust College's Admissions Office and First Year Experience team.

On Friday, the athletes participated in a collegiate showcase led by Rust College Head Baseball Coach John Bates, who remarked, "I saw some great talent, especially from the upcoming seniors." Coach Bates was so impressed that he extended college opportunities to all 13 members of the Class of 2026 who participated.

The Blue Team emerged victorious in the All-Star Game with a 9–4 win over the Red Team. Mason Bouldin, a senior from Natchez High School, earned MVP honors for his outstanding performance.
During the closing banquet, Rust College Athletics was honored with the Official Partnership Award from the Mississippi Association of Players for its support and collaboration. In a special moment, Coach John Bates was presented with the MAP Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his ongoing commitment to youth and collegiate baseball in the state.

Rust College is excited to once again host the MAP All-Star Game in 2026, continuing its mission of developing student-athletes and providing pathways to higher education.
