Charone Williams Named Assistant Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Rust College

A graduate of Jean Ribault Senior High School (2001) and the University of Central Florida (2010, Sociology), Williams was a standout 400-meter hurdler at Auburn University. He began his coaching career in 2004 at P.K. Yonge Developmental School in Gainesville, Florida, where he led teams to three state championships. From 2006 to 2011, he coached at Flagler Palm Coast High School, winning two additional state titles.

Williams began his collegiate coaching career at the University of North Florida in 2011 as Throws, Multi-event, and Men's and Women's Hurdles Coach. He later held coaching positions at Georgia Southern University, Coastal Carolina University, SUNY Buffalo, and Florida A&M University, accumulating multiple conference championships and mentoring numerous regional, national, and Olympic Trials qualifiers. Notably, he won three Big South Conference Championships at Coastal Carolina and two SWAC Conference Championships at Florida A&M, bringing his career total to 10 championship titles.

Williams' extensive experience and championship pedigree make him a key addition to the Rust College coaching staff, where he will focus on developing the next generation of elite cross country and track & field athletes.
