Bio
Mychala Linzy brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to Rust College as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. She joins the Bearcats from Southern Arkansas University, where she served as a Graduate Assistant Coach and played an integral role in developing guards and helping the program advance to the Great American Conference Tournament.
Before transitioning into coaching, Linzy was a decorated student-athlete. She was a two-year starter at Southern Arkansas University, where she set the school’s single-season record for made three-pointers and helped lead the team to a Great American Conference Tournament appearance during her senior campaign. Prior to that, she spent one season as the starting point guard at McNeese State University, guiding the Cowgirls to the Southland Conference Tournament in Katy, Texas.
Linzy began her collegiate career at Pearl River Community College, where she was a two-year starter and the team’s leading scorer both seasons. She earned recognition as a MACJC Region 23 All-Tournament Team selection as a freshman and was named to the MACJC Region 23 All-Conference Team as a sophomore.
A native of Clinton, Mississippi, Linzy was a three-year starter at Clinton High School, where she helped her team to consecutive state playoff appearances while earning multiple “Player of the Game” honors under Head Coach Mike Coleman and Assistant Coach Alexis Stirgus.
Linzy holds an Associate of Arts degree from Pearl River Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management (Coaching) from Southern Arkansas University, and a Master of Science in Kinesiology (Coaching) from Southern Arkansas University.
