After both Bobby Wright then Kole Simms walked, a double-steal forced a Rust throwing error that allowed Wright to plate the unearned run.

CRC would be held scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when Zorey Chipman, knowing the Pioneers only had one more out to give, took a gamble a took off from third to attempt to steal home. The aggression paid off as the senior cut into but ultimately could not overcome Rust's 6-3 lead.

Jack Roney (5-3) got the start, striking out three Bearcats in 3 1/3 innings.

Wright saw his on-base percentage skyrocket by drawing three walks. Chipman's two hits paced the Pioneers, with Gossett, Austin Gross, Jackson Imler, and Adonis Thomas adding one hit each.

Crowley's Ridge – 2

Rust – 4
