Bonner Launches Pair Of Home Runs In Doubleheader Defeat At MVSU

ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program saw DeanFrenee Bonner crank two long balls in game two, but the Bearcats dropped both games of its doubleheader at Mississippi Valley State, 15-3 and 16-8 on Sunday afternoon.

Bonner, who logged only one at-bat in the opener, put on a power clinic in the nightcap, sending two baseballs into the parking lot past the left field fence which accounted for four RBIs and half of the club's runs. He also scored in all three times he reached base safely as he was hit by a pitch as well.

Khalil Robinson made solid contact all day long, contributing a walk and a sacrifice fly in the first contest before catching fire with a 3-for-3 outing, an RBI, a run scored and a pair of doubles in game two.

Tremaine Callaway pushed across three baserunners in The Delta, tallying two runs scored, a hit, free pass, and a stolen base as well.

Jesse Burton III was the only Baseball Bearcat to have a multi-hit game during game one, posting a 2-for-3 affair on top of a steal and a run scored.

The men from Holly Springs had its home opening doubleheader versus LeMoyne-Owen postponed from its originally scheduled date of February 22 and will now face its next opponent on February 25-26 with a pair of doubleheaders at Central Baptist College.
