Three-Run Seventh Not Enough Versus Huston-Tillotson

Three-Run Seventh Not Enough Versus Huston-Tillotson

DALLAS, Texas. – The Rust College baseball program was shutout over the first six innings of Thursday's NAIA matchup versus the Rams, finally plating three runs in the final frame but it was too little, too late as Huston-Tillotson won by a final of 6-3.

Jalin Thomas became the first Bearcat this season to go yard, launching a solo shot, while Charles Mays and Jalik Demar both picked up doubles before scoring, Demar notching an RBI as well.

Tyler Gilbert had the only other RBI for the Cats, Jesse Burton III and Malik Berrien slapped singles, and the trio of Olin Evans, Victor Clay, plus Demarrium Warren all reached via walks in a tough day overall for the sticks.

Brytan Sampson got the start on the bump, going four innings with six punchouts while surrendering four hits and three runs, giving way to Matthew Davis who had a strikeout, a base on balls and two earned runs given up over the final three frames.

The Blue and White will face the host, Mountain View College, on Friday night for an exhibition match at 4 p.m. before getting a rematch against HTU at 7 p.m. in Dallas.
