Offensive Slump Continues At Blue Mountain Christian

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program has been mired in a hitting slump over the current losing streak, being unable to score more than five runs in six of the eight games including the 7-2 loss at BMCU on Thursday afternoon.

Malik Berrien kept the Cats from being shutout for the first time on the campaign with a two-RBI double in the final frame to score both Victor Clay and Devin Tallington.

Clay was the only student-athlete with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 against the Toppers, Jalin Thomas reached twice via single and a walk, and Stone Teague connected for a two-bagger.

Bearcat pitching combined to whiff seven Blue Mountain Christian batters as Joseph Thomas sat down four while William Baker struck out three in two innings with no walks allowed to go along with just one run pushed across.

The Blue and White will play its second game of the day at 6 p.m. versus Arkansas Baptist in a neutral site clash, looking to end its losing skid.
