Bats Wake Up, Pitching Falls Asleep In Loss To Arkansas Baptist
BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program cranked out six doubles and pushed across its most runs in nearly three weeks, but the Buffaloes used a five-run second inning to break the game open and held on for an 11-7 win.
Devin Tallington netted himself a hat trick of doubles on the evening, lacing three two-baggers in four at-bats, the last of which drove in a pair, to go along with scoring once himself.
Victor Clay had another multi-hit affair, going 2-for-4 with a double of his own plus a score.
Malik Berrien and Jalin Thomas had nearly mirror-like stat lines, each notching one hit in two at-bats, scored twice, drove in an RBI, drew a walk, and stole a base, the only difference was that Thomas tacked on a sacrifice fly for his run batted in while Berrien knocked home his with a double.
Matthew Davis came on with two outs in the sixth, allowing a single hit that was quickly erased via a fancy pickoff move.
RC is back to the diamond on Friday against this same ABC team with a noon first pitch before taking on the host Toppers once again that night at 6 p.m. in Blue Mountain, Mississippi.
