Baseball Bearcats Fall To Christian Brothers By A Football Score, 20-12

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program saw a football game break out at Bearcat Field as the Bearcats bats racked up 12 runs but the pitching staff gave up 20 in a loss to the Buccaneers of Christian Brothers.

 

Both Jesse Burton III and Malik Berrien drove in three RBIs with two singles, a stolen base, and a walk but the former scored while the latter did not.

 

Jalik Demar reached base four times over six plate appearances, walking twice and singling twice as well as scoring once.

 

Stone Teague displayed a high volume and quality of work, going two-for-three with two RBI doubles, a trio of walks, crossing the plate two times, and stealing second.

 

Victor Clay was the top Bearcat batter in terms of quantity of hits, smacking three of them, all singles, plus two runs, an RBI, a walk, and a steal.

 

Jalin Thomas tagged a solo home run, Khalil Robinson doubled with two runs scored and all nine hitters in the starting lineup had at least one base knock.

 

Head Coach John Bates will attempt to knock off its second SIAC school of 2023 on Wednesday when the Cats dance with the Dragons of Lane College at 1 p.m. on Bearcat Field.
