Rust Patiently Clobbers LeMoyne-Owen Behind 17 Walks

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program racked up 23 runs via 17 walks and eight hits including an 11-run second inning en route to a lopsided 23-2 victory.

Jackson Bryant earned the pitching win with four innings of one-run work in which he struck out five Magicians while tossing 65.2% of his pitches for strikes.

Malik Berrien and Craig Randolph were the only two Bearcats batters with multiple hits, each notching a double and a single with the former recording two RBIs, scoring four times, and walking once while the latter drove in three baserunners, crossed the dish twice, and drew one ball four.

Khalil Robinson's lone base knock went over the fence for a two-run round-tripper although he also had a bases loaded walk, a trio of runs scored, and a pair of free passes.

Jalin Thomas went 1-for-1 with a double and three bases on balls to go along with Jalik Demar accumulating three runs batted in without a single hit.

Jesse Burton III was the definition of patience, using his keen eye to coax four free trips to first base, scoring each time plus Demarrium Warren was the ultimate pinch runner, being utilized a quartet of times and reaching home during all of his chances.

The first ever season of GCAC-sponsored baseball starts on Saturday afternoon when the Blue and White hosts Tougaloo College at noon and 3 p.m. on Bearcat Field.
