Late Inning Magic Runs Out As Wiley Pulls Even Atop GCAC Standings

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program entered the bottom of the seventh in familiar territory, down one with a chance to win, but this time the Wildcats held on for a 10-9 victory, tying the Bearcats for the conference's top spot early on in the inaugural campaign.

The powerful, dynamic duo of Stone Teague and Shemaar Stapleton only had one hit apiece but they were both moonshots, producing five of the team's seven RBIs on the day with a three-run and two-run blast, respectively.

Khalil Robinson and Jalin Thomas both went 3-for-4 for the afternoon as Robinson logged a double, scored, and an RBI while Thomas smacked a double.

Ja'Shaun Franks put a double and a walk on his stat sheet and Victor Clay had a RBI-single before stealing and coming around to score himself.

Jay Terrell and Xavier Campbell pitched three innings each out of the pen with both of them giving up a single earned run including a pair of strikeouts by the former.

Rust and Wiley will play the deciding rubber game on Sunday at noon on Bearcat Field.
