Three Weeks, Three GCAC Players Of The Week For Rust Baseball

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference has given out three sets of weekly awards so far during the 2023 season and the Rust College Baseball program has swept the Player of the Week honors with Stone Teague winning the first two editions while Jalin Thomas took home Monday's accolade.

Teague, a junior first basemen from Selmer, Tennessee, captured his first of two awards by going 2-for-3 (.667) with two RBI-doubles, scoring twice, and stealing a base.

The next week he went back-to-back by receiving the hardware once again, doing so by hitting .455 (5-of-11) with six RBIs, a pair of stolen bases, a run scored, a walk, a double, and a triple to go along with reaching base safely in half of his plate appearances on top of a .727 slugging percentage in a quartet of wins over LeMoyne-Owen (1) and Tougaloo (3).

Thomas, a junior infielder and catcher from Columbus, Georgia, was named this past week's winner as he racked up seven hits over 12 at-bats (.583) in which he drove in three, legged out a trio of triples, launched a home run, and collected a double as well as catching three Wiley baserunners trying to steal during the pivotal three-game weekend series.
