Rust Clobbers Oakwood, Scores 30 Runs In Doubleheader Sweep

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program turned 26 hits and ten walks into a whooping 30 runs while holding the Ambassadors to just three as the Baseball Bearcats took a pair of lopsided contests, 13-3 in five and 17-0 in four.

Joseph Thomas and Jackson Bryant each went the distance as Thomas struck out six while allowing three runs to cross (two earned) while Bryant sat down seven batters in a shutout effort.

RC matched its run total on the basepaths as well, swiping 30 bags for an average of 15 per ballgame with Shemaar Stapleton leading the pack at six (20%).

Five different Bearcats doubled as Malik Berrien did so twice, four Cats legged out triples in the nightcap alone, and despite the gaudy numbers, only Ja'Shaun Franks hit a round-tripper, earning himself the ever elusive two-RBI inside-the-park home run.

The Blue and White will go for the clean sweep on Friday at noon.
