Teams Combine For 25 Runs & 28 Hits In Dramatic Hank Aaron Classic

JACKSON, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program erased a 7-0 deficit after two full innings and tied the game back 11 apiece in the seventh before taking the ballgame by a final score of 13-12 in "extra innings".

RC has now rattled off five straight wins, averaging 13.8 runs per game during that span and outscoring opponents by 47 (69-22).

Without the run production off the bats of Ja'Shaun Franks and Malik Berrien, this game would not have been close with both student-athletes recording four RBIs each as Franks touched eight total bases over three hits (two doubles, one home run) while Berrien hit a triple and a single to go along with a sacrifice fly, two runs scored plus a pair of steals.

Xavier Campbell got the W on the mound with 2.2 innings of work, three strikeouts and two runs given up with Brytan Sampson coming on for the save.

Victor Clay was perfect at the plate, going 5-for-5 with a walk to reach safely six times, scoring on four of those occasions, stealing two bags, and doubling.

Tyler Gilbert filled the role of long reliever, hurling four stellar frames of two-run, two-strikeout baseball.

Bearcats who hit for extra bases but were not previously mentioned were Khalil Robinson's homer, Stone Teague's triple, and Jalin Thomas' double.

With Wednesday's trip to Memphis and Christian Brothers University cancelled, the Bearcats travel down to NOLA to face baseball newcomer Dillard for a Friday doubleheader and Saturday single game.
