Bearcats Held To Lowest Run Total In 1.5 Months In 8-4 Loss At Dillard

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College baseball program has been one of the highest scoring teams in the NAIA this season at 8.4 runs per game coming into the series at Dillard, but the Cats were held to half that amount in a four-run setback on Thursday night.

This was the second time this year that Rust and its opponent came into the series tied for first place as the win put the Bleu Devils into the lead for the first time of their debut campaign.

RC was held to just four base hits on the evening, one each by Jalin Thomas (RBI-double), Stone Teague (single), Shemaar Stapleton (single), and DeMarrium Warren (single) with Victor Clay as well as Jalik Demar driving home RBIs on groundouts.

Malik Berrien contributed a pair of walks to the cause while scoring on one of those opportunities.

Craig Randolph pitched two scoreless innings to quiet the home nine's bats, striking out a pair and allowing just two baserunners.

The men from Northern Mississippi will have two more chances to regain its grasp of the GCAC's top spot with a Friday doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m. inside Wesley Barrow Stadium.
