Offense Rebounds To Take Series, Reclaim First Place

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College baseball program had a rare off day at the plate in a loss on Thursday but bounced back in a big way with 26 runs in the doubleheader on Friday to win the series and move back into first place, 12-9 and 14-8.

Khalil Robinson and Ja'Shaun Franks both mashed dingers with the duo recording six hits over 11 at-bats (.545) while driving in eight RBIs, scoring six times, each notching a double plus a homer, and walking twice.

Shemaar Stapleton has just two singles but made up for it with his superb plate discipline, enticing three bases on balls (all in game two), scoring twice, and bringing in a pair.

Jalin Thomas accumulated four hits on the afternoon and went for two bases for thrice, notching three free trips to first, driving in two runs and scoring one.

Reliever Craig Randolph has stepped up his game in crunch time as of late, dropping four frames of two-run work and two strikeouts in game two to keep the Bearcats one step ahead of the Bleu Devils.

A daunting task awaits the Blue and White in its next task, taking on HBCU powerhouse Jackson State inside Braddy Field on Tuesday at 12 and 3 p.m. near the capital of the Magnolia State.
