Robinson Goes Yard, Cats Fall To Toppers 6-4

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program drew first blood with Khalil Robinson's first inning, two-run homer but allowed Blue Mountain Christian to answer with six straight runs to take the single game, 6-4.

Robinson was the most productive bat in the lineup that was held fairly in check, going 2-for-3 with the aforementioned two-RBI long ball and a single, scoring each time.

Malik Berrien drove in DeMarrium Warren with a sacrifice fly and Shemaar Stapleton, who had Rust's only walk, brought home Robinson on an RBI-groundout to make up  the other two scores.

Victor Clay, Jalin Thomas, and Jalik Demar laced singles as the Blue and White had all of five hits.

Christian Hill and Brytan Sampson each pitched a scoreless inning each.

The men of Holly Springs return to the friendly confines of Bearcat Field on Friday for an 11 a.m. / 3 p.m. doubleheader with Philander Smith as it looks to keep a stranglehold on the GCAC's number one seed.
