Bearcats Cruise To Doubleheader Sweep Of Philander Smith

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program racked up a plus-18 run differential and laced 16 more hits than the Panthers as the Blue and White registered a pair of low stress victories, 9-2 and 15-4.

Jalin Thomas was a one-man wrecking crew, doubling twice and tripling once over four base knocks, knocking in a team-most six RBIs in the process.

Stone Teague drove home five ribbies in game two courtesy of a three-run blast and a two-run single, going 5-for-7 (.714) overall.

Jalik Demar logged a "doubleheader cycle", registering five hits in eight at-bats (.625) with two singles, a double, a triple, and a long ball, scoring four times and bringing home three Cats.

Frederick Perry Jr. secured his first career pitching win in grand fashion, hurling a complete game, two-run masterpiece, allowing four hits while whiffing six Green and White clad visitors.

The back half of the twin bill saw starter Brytan Sampson mow down seven PSC batters in only four innings, Olin Evans picked up the victory over two innings plus one K, and Xavier Campbell cleaned things up with a 1-2-3 seventh.
