Thomas, Teague & Campbell Land GCAC Postseason Honors

JACKSON, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program saw three of its biggest contributors acknowledged by the league on Thursday as Jalin Thomas, Stone Teague, and Xavier Campbell all earned accolades for their fantastic regular seasons.

Thomas, a catcher from Columbus, Georgia, swept all of the individual hitting awards by claiming both the Conference MVP & GCAC Hitter of the Year while also being selected to the All-GCAC First Team.

He was well represented among the NAIA leaderboards including the 12th-most runners caught stealing (15), 16th-most triples (5), a top-40 slot for both walks (33) and slugging percentage (.766) as well as top-50 for extra-base hits (27). As for the conference-level, he led the league in RBIs (40) and total bases (95), was second in hits (47), doubles (14) and homers (8), on top of third regarding on-base percentage (.515) and sixth for batting average (.379).

Teague, a first baseman from Selmer, Tennessee, was selected to the All-GCAC Second Team as a designated hitter.

He was right behind Thomas on the national triples list in the top-35 at four to go along with placing in the GCAC's top-seven stat leaders in walks (25), home runs (6), RBIs (30), and much more.

Campbell, a pitcher from Atlanta, Georgia, claimed a spot as one of the relievers on the All-Conference Second Team.

The freshman right-hander ended the regular season fourth among all hurlers in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference with four victories, leading the Cats in wins (4) and ERA (4.58) to go along with 14 strikeouts over 19.2 innings of work.
