#1 Baseball Stays Alive With 9-2 Thumping Of #2 Wiley

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Rust College baseball program came out of the gates on fire with its backs against the wall, seeing the first five batters of the game reach safely to stake a 3-0 first inning edge en route to advance courtesy of a comfortable 9-2 victory.

Khalil Robinson made his impact felt all day long, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two steals, a triple, two scores, and a walk.

Freshman Frederick Perry Jr. stepped up when called upon, delivering 4.1 frames of two-run ball to pick up the dub.

Stone Teague drove in a pair on a seeing-eye single through the right side of the infield, walking and scoring once with an extra single plus three stolen bases thrown in.

Malik Berrien and Shemaar Stapleton both cranked doubles while Ja'Shaun Franks as well as DeMarrium Warren brought home one Bearcat apiece.

The bullpen trio of Olin Evans (2.2 IP), Xavier Campbell (1.0 IP), and Brytan Sampson (1.0 IP) wiped out any chances of a Wiley comeback attempt, shutting out the Wildcats over the 4.2 innings while ceding just three hits, no walks, and three Ks between them.

The Blue and White from Holly Springs will either get a rematch with #4 Florida Memorial or square off with #3 Paine Friday at 12:30 p.m. for the third consecutive day.
