HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program fell in a slugfest (15-10) to open the day before withstanding a wild sixth inning in the second contest (7-5) to split Tuesday's twin-bill with its future conference rivals.

  • Xavier Campbell only had one hit but led the Cats with three RBIs, connecting on a two-run homer as well as an RBI groundout.

 

  • Shemaar Stapleton also got some yardwork in as both of his base knocks went for extras, connecting on a solo shot plus a two-bagger.

 

  • Rashid Muhammad and Tyler Gilbert were the only other Blue and White clad men to notch multiple hits, combining for four singles on top of five scores and three ribbies.

 

  • Christian Hill had remarkable plate discipline, drawing four walks while scoring an equal amount of times with his lone hit being a double.

 

  • Speed was the flavor of the day for the duo of Augustus Latting and Malik Berrien, each going a perfect 3-for-3 on steal attempts as each ballplayer registered a single, run scored, two bases on balls plus a hit-by-pitch in addition to three runs batted in between the two.
