Walk-Off Grand Slam & Rough Pitching Derails Doubleheader At Wiley

MARSHALL, Texas – The Rust College baseball program was on the wrong side of a walk-off grand slam in game one before scoring 13 runs in the second matchup only to see the Wildcats put up 25 in a unfortunate sweep.

Rust Top Performers:

• Jalik Demar was the ringleader of the lineup, going 5-for-7 (.714) with four RBIs, two runs scored, a double plus a walk.

• Brytan Sampson was the only Bearcats pitcher of note, allowing just one run on three hits and two walks over 3.0 innings of relief.

• Xavier Campbell drove home a trio of baserunners during a 2-of-6 (.333) effort which included a two-bagger, a score, and a sacrifice fly.

• Kyrent Cole made a brief but impactful cameo, smacking an RBI-double in his lone plate appearance before promptly crossing the plate moments later.

• Matthew LeBlanc was the runs scored front runner with a trio in addition to both of his base knocks being doubles as well as multiple free passes (2).

•  In the steals department, Devin Tallington was a perfect 2-for-2 and Malik Berrien snagged a base too.

• Salvaging the series finale and giving Wiley its first loss in GCAC play is the task for Sunday when the two teams take the field for a noon first pitch.
