Jalik Demar Becomes First Bearcat To Win GCAC Player of the Week In 2024

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College baseball program picked up a huge GCAC weekend sweep of Philander Smith and the leader of the offensive onslaught, Jalik Demar, claimed the team's first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor this season.

Demar had career single-game highs for hits (3), runs scored (3), RBIs (3) and doubles (2) while also hitting his second career home run during the domination of the Panthers.

The junior led the Baseball Bearcats in total bases (16), hits (8), runs scored (7), RBIs (6) plus doubles (3).

For the week, he went 8-of-16 (.500) in addition to adding a long ball, a triple as well as a walk while putting up a slugging percentage of 1.000.

With Wednesday's ballgame at LeMoyne-Owen pushed back a week due to the incoming rain, the Blue and White will next hit the diamond against the defending league champion Dillard Bleu Devils on Saturday for a doubleheader (12 / 3 p.m.) then the finale on Sunday at noon inside Bearcat Field.
