Dillard Wins Game One In 10, Via Run-Rule In Game Two

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program could not keep the momentum rolling after its previous weekend sweep at Philander Smith, going to extra innings in the opener before falling 6-5 and then allowing the Bleu Devils to score 13 unanswered runs over the final three innings during a 13-1 defeat.

Rust Top Performers:

 

  • Matthew LeBlanc was basically the entire offense in game two, logging three of the team's five hits (60%) while posting a perfect batting average along with a pair of doubles and a stolen base.

 

  • Christian Hill made a giant dent in the scoreboard on his one swing that connected, smashing a three-run moonshot to straightaway centerfield in the opener.

 

  • Brytan Sampson was a tough luck loser, pitching 3.2 superb innings of relief on the front half of the twin-bill in which he allowed just the one run in the tenth in addition to striking out six.

 

  • Devin Tallington and JaShaun Franks tallied the only other two RBIs on the day as the latter Bearcat stole the show in the first contest, sporting a 2-for-3 stat line on top of two free passes, an RBI, a run scored, and a two-bagger.
