SUNO Puts A Damper On Senior Day With A Nine-Run First

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College baseball program fell behind 13-0 before their second turn at the plate, scoring five but giving up 15 to end the regular season on a sour note in a 15-5 loss in seven on Senior Day.

 

Prior to first pitch, Head Coach John Bates and the team recognized its two senior student-athletes (Tony Grandberry and Brent Jackson), two Student Assistant Coaches (Jeremy Hatchett and Jalin Thomas), and Team Manager (JeKendra Milliner) for their dedication to the squad.

  • After the first inning, the pitching staff did not yield a single earned run as the quartet of Kyron Baker (1.0 IP), Tyler Gilbert (2.0 IP), Jalen Ward (2.0 IP), and Ismeal Recio (1.0 IP) held the visitors to just two hits while striking out three.

 

  • JaShaun Franks had the club's only walk, lone extra-base hit (a double), one of its four RBIs, and scored two of the five runs.
