Campbell’s Complete Game Gem Advances Baseball Onto Winner’s Bracket
JACKSON, Miss. - The #5 Rust College baseball program rode the arm of starting pitcher Xavier Campbell into the winner's side of the GCAC Tournament bracket on Wednesday morning as the Bearcats doubled up the #4 SUNO Knights, 6-3.

Rust Top Performers:
- Campbell rewarded Head Coach John Bates' faith in him by baffling the Knights all morning long, yielding just one earned run and three total by scattering six hits plus a walk over nine innings in addition to racking up four punchouts.
- Olin Evans logged both a double and a single in four at-bats with each driving in a run on top of calling the beautiful ballgame from behind the dish.
- JaShaun Franks was the other player with a multi-hit day, going 2-for-5 (.400), stealing the team's one base and scoring once.
- Malik Berrien made his only base knock an extra kind, doubling and also driving in a base runner via a sacrifice fly.
- Devin Tallington whacked a two-RBI triple and drew the club's only walk, crossing the plate on both occasions.
- Matthew LeBlanc came through with a two-bagger, Kyrent Cole scored twice, and Christian Hill found a hole for an RBI-single.
