Dega Throws Cold Water On Baseball’s Hot Streak

Dega Throws Cold Water On Baseball’s Hot Streak

JACKSON, Miss. – The #5 Rust College baseball program ran into the one team that was on a more impressive tear than they were on Friday night as #2 Talladega won its 14th ballgame in-a-row to put the brakes on the Bearcats' roll in an 11-4 setback.

The Tornadoes have lived up to their mascot, averaging a margin of ten runs per victory during that string that has lasted the past 20 days.

Rust Top Performers:

  • Kyrent Cole should be a certified lock for the GCAC All-Tournament Team as he has been unbelievably consistent, posting a perfect 4-for-4 contest at the dish, stealing three bags, and scoring half of the club's four runs.

  • Shemaar Stapleton was a doubles machine, smacking both of his hits for two-baggers during a 2-for-4 night while Devin Tallington logged the other extra-base hit against TC, driving in one of the team's two RBIs with his double in the second.

  • Kyron Baker graciously allowed three Dega baserunners to reach safely over his 1.1 frames on the mound but merely provided them false hope as they turned out to just be stranded ducks on the pond.

  • All-GCAC Second Team selections Malik Berrien and JaShaun Franks each crossed home plate once and swiped two steals as the former notched a single too.

Next:

  • It is now win or go home territory from here on out as the Blue and White will meet the winner of #3 Dillard vs. #1 Wiley at 3:30 p.m. with a triumph setting up a second shot with Talladega College in the GCAC Championship Game.
