Campbell & Cole Named To GCAC All-Tournament Team

JACKSON, Miss. - The #5 seed Rust College baseball program had two players make the GCAC All-Tournament Team in Sophomore Xavier Campbell and Freshman Kyrent Cole.

Campbell was selected to the team twice, both as a pitcher as well as a position player, opening the tournament by shutting down the #4 SUNO Knights on the mound during a nine-inning masterpiece. He went the distance while yielding just one earned run (three total) and nine baserunners (only one walk) for a batting average of just .182 against him, mixing in a quartet of strikeouts. As a hitter, he went 3-for-4 (.750) with a team-high four RBIs via a home run, a double, and a base on balls.

Cole led the Bearcats in batting average (.643), on-base percentage (.706), hits (9), runs scored (9), stolen bases (4), and walks (3) in addition to a pair of ribbies.

RC finishes its 2024 season with an overall record of 16-33 (32.7%) and a 10-11 (47.6%) mark in league action.
