HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College men's basketball program won the turnover battle (21-17) and held a five-point lead at halftime but could not hold on in a 75-70 setback.
RC got just under half of its production from 2020-21 GCAC Newcomer of the Year Ronald Strothers and new addition Keshon Tabb who posted 19 and 15 points, respectively.
Tabb tried to do his best Superman impression with seven rebounds, seven steals and four assists but his superb effort came up in a losing effort.
Jordan Watkins was an asset off the pine, contributing 10 points over 28 game minutes while Christopher Agbo dominated in the paint per usual, registering a game-high nine rebounds and two rejections.
The Bearcats will look to regroup this weekend when it participates in the Fisk Classic opposite Cumberland (4 p.m. CT Saturday) and Tennessee Wesleyan (6 p.m. CT Sunday).
