Bearcats Nearly Hit Century Mark In Romp Over Pioneers

PARAGOULD, Ark. – The Rust College men's basketball program overwhelmed Crowley's Ridge on the road, walloping CRC by 44 points, 99-55.


Head Coach Edward Newton's guys seemingly could not miss all night long, splashing 51.4% (36-for-70) of its shots including 40% of its threes, knocking down 14 triples over 35 attempts.


The defense also played a key role in the demolition, tripling up the Pioneers in steals (18-6) and forcing ten more turnovers than it lost (23-13).


The Blue and White saw four student-athletes score in double-figures including three players off the bench. Jordan Watkins led the onslaught with 16 points, Christopher Owens connected on five long range shots on six attempts (83%) for 15, Kristopher Huntsman logged 13 and starter Ronald Strothers had 11.


Christopher Agbo pulled in nine boards in only 12 minutes of game time while Devante Lanier was right behind him with eight rebounds over 19 minutes.


Marquis Pepper and Keshon Tabb led the helper parade as the team recorded 21 in all with the duo of Pepper and Tabb contributing five apiece to go along with Wesley
Anderson's four.


The Rust College men will participate in the Battle at the Beach in Panama City, Florida where it will battle the LSU satellite branches of Alexandria and Shreveport plus Faulkner.
