Men’s Basketball Snaps Five-Game Skid With Win Over Wildcats

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College men's basketball program had been mired in a slump in which they went a month-and-a-half without tasting victory, but the Bearcats cracked the win column for the first time since November 26 in a 74-68 triumph against Wiley College.

Similar to the women's game preceding theirs, the men won their game from the free-throw line (27-for-32, 84.4%) and by winning the turnover margin (plus-8) despite being out-shot by more than 13%.

Jayden Stephens had a breakout day, bursting onto the scene with game-highs for both points (21) and rebounds (10) to claim a double-double while going 5-for-5 from the stripe, notching a pair of steals and tabbing one assist.

Damonte Streate has impressed since being a late addition to the unit, dropping 14 points and a contest-best three steals (tied with Xavier Evans), doing a majority of his damage with a 10-of-10 afternoon on freebies.

Davonte Craven had a solid 13 points and seven boards as well as being the only Bearcat with multiple blocks (2).

Six-foot-seven Catthadious Moore had the unusual title of team's top assister at three dimes on top of eight points, five rebounds plus a steal.

RC wraps up the Dillard pod on Sunday at 2 p.m. in hopes of starting a winning streak opposite Oakwood.
