Bearcats Make Statement In Emphatic Blowout Of Oakwood

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College men's basketball program is starting to find its rhythm and Coach Poindexter believes they are ready to make a run, obliterating the Ambassadors of Oakwood during a 88-57, 31-point laugher.

RC shot the lights out of Dent Hall, converting on a preposterous 59.3% of its shots (35-of-59) and 47.1% from long distance (8-for-17) while holding OU to just one triple as well as doubling up the Ambassadors in the assist department (14-7).

Damonte Streate was a walking bucket, posting a game-high 24 points on 9-of-13 (69.2%) including three long bombs, three assists, two steals and a board.

Davonte Craven fell one rebound shy of a double-double as he went for 16 points and nine boards plus four dimes, the latter two of which leading all game participants.

Kris Huntsman served 20 high-quality minutes off the pine en route to 11 points, Jayden Stephens and Jeremiah Maldonado went for nine points a pop with Stephens swatting away two shots, and Jonathon Bentley picked up three steals over 18 minutes to tie for the contest-best.

The Bearcats will set its sights on notching a three-game winning streak for the first time of the Poindexter era versus Wiley College on Friday at 2 p.m. from inside The Castle on the campus of Southern University at New Orleans.
