LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Rust College men's basketball program did not miss from the charity stripe in ten attempts and shot 50.9% (27-of-53) from the floor but could not defeat Arkansas Baptist on the road, dropping the contest 72-69.
Despite the hot shooting performance, two major deciding factors were likely from turnovers and points off of them. ABC landed a plus-ten (20-10) turnover margin while tripling the Bearcats in points off turnovers at 21-7.
A trio of Bearcats made up a majority of the scoring for Coach Poindexter, led by Jayden Stephens' 13, followed by both Davonte Craven and Jeremiah Maldonado at 12.
Catthadious Moore and Craven shared the game's rebounding crown at eight each, Damonte Streate played the entire contest while racking up a team-high six dimes, and Xavier Evans was the lone player in Blue and White to notch multiple steals (2).
The men will enter the home stretch on Friday, February 3 when it hosts Southern-New Orleans at 7 p.m. in game one of the three-day GCAC pod in Holly Springs.
