Khalil Brown Brings Home GCAC Newcomer of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College men's basketball program finally got on the board regarding the conference's weekly awards as Khalil Brown scored the first one for the guys during the 2023-24 campaign by snagging himself the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week accolade. 

Brown, a power forward from Atlanta, Georgia, dropped an average of 21 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal over two contests, shooting 53.5% (15-for-28) in the process. 

The six-foot-six senior set a new season-high for rebounds with seven while tallying his second-highest scoring night of the year at Wiley as he poured in 25. 

A Southern Crescent Tech CC and Edward Waters transfer, he is the team's highest scorer at 14.4 points per game while hitting a Bearcat-best 50.8% of his field goal attempts. 

Brown and the boys return to the hardwood for their first matchup inside the friendly confines of W.A. McMillan Center in about two months when they welcome the Buccaneers from the Virgin Islands on Thursday evening.
