Bogan Races His Way To All-GCAC Honors With Eighth Place Finish

DECATUR, Ala. – The Rust College cross country programs each crossed the finish line in sixth place at the annual GCAC Championships inside Oakville Indian Mounds Park on Friday morning as the men bested both the Virgin Islands and Fisk while the women placed ahead of Fisk as well.

 

Javian Bogan was the star of the show for the Bearcats on the day, becoming the newest member of the All-GCAC Team as he ended up slotting at eighth overall with a time of 31:17.91 during the 8K.

 

Orion Kimp put together a strong conclusion to his campaign as well by posting a 34:00.30 time to land amongst the top 20 runners.

 

Valentin Jasquez made his season debut in the finale with a third place showing for the among teammates at 37:40.10 and Jamerick Moton set a new personal-record of 41:35.61.

 

Wrapping up the guys' side were Jayden Gaye (45:03.24), Zachary Auguste (46:59.33), Avery Robinson (49:19.84), and Quincy Franks (51:10.43) while the first and last RC student-athletes listed ran personal-lows.

 

Lauren Warr placed progressively better in the overall standings during each meet she ran this season, capping it off with a top 20 outing in the 6K for a speed of 29:55.59 to lead the ladies.

 

Second among the Lady Bearcats was Ayanna Williams in 36:35.90 with Sydney Dixon behind her at 42:52.13.

 

The last two student-athletes to cross for the Blue and White were Jazmine Riley (42:53.60) and Erissa Bland (48:37.59), the latter of which was running her first race.

 

The cross country season has officially ended with most of the runners now turning their attention towards the outdoor track and field campaign which should begin in approximately March.
