Joshua Becomes First Weekly Award Winner In Program History

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College softball program can add another first to its fantastic weekend as pitcher/utility Leona Joshua has earned the distinguished honor of being the first Lady Bearcat to ever win a weekly award at the league-wise level, claiming the Continental Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week accolade.

Joshua, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada, recorded a team-high .500 batting average, five hits, and four RBIs while also logging a home run, double, stolen base, run scored plus a walk.

In addition to her hitting prowess, the Bossier Parish Community College transfer picked up the team's first win in the circle on the same day she hit the game-tying two-RBI dinger against Oakwood, sporting an overall ERA of 3.18 for the week and striking out 18 Tornadoes / Ambassadors hitters in a matter of only 11.0 innings.

Joshua and her teammates return to the diamond on Thursday, March 7 where they will appear in Paragould, Arkansas for a Continental Athletic Conference tussle with the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College.
