Rust Top Performers:

  • Amya Sampson put on a smoke show for those in attendance on Wednesday, smashing both a normal over the fence long ball as well as the more unorthodox inside-the-parker as she hit .571 (4-of-7) for the day with a team-high three runs scored plus a slugging percentage of 1.429.

  • Leona Joshua is now responsible for both victories in the circle for the Lady Bearcats, pitching a complete game en route to a preposterous 14 strikeouts, making half of her outs recorded coming off whiffs.

  • She also was no slouch in the batter's box either, cranking out five hits over eight at-bats (.625), a pair of RBIs and a pair of scores as well.

  • Haley Weatherspoon topped the offensive firepower by hitting .750 (6-for-8) including a triple, two more ribbies, tying with Sampson for the runs crown (3), and posting an even 1.000 in slugging on top of the squad's lone stolen base.

  • Ayanna Williams was the biggest run producer in the lineup, driving home a Bearcat-best four baserunners on a pair of doubles.

  • Taliyah Griffin and Julie Gammage were also major cogs in the hit parade, combining to go 9-of-14 (.643) with three RBIs, three runs, and a double (Griffin) between the two.

Next:

  • The ladies will continue their resilient comeback season on Friday in Huntsville, Alabama against the team it beat for its other victory, Oakwood, for a 12/2 p.m. doubleheader.
