Lady Bearcats Hold Oakwood To One Point In Second Quarter, Receive Rings In Dominant Home Opener

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College women's basketball program was given its 2020-21 GCAC Regular Season Championship rings and took care of business against an overmatched opponent, clobbering Oakwood University by 52, 83-31.

The Lady Bearcats suffocated the Lady Ambassadors to the point where it only scored one single point in the second quarter and was limited to a shooting percentage under 20 while Rust was on fire by making 47.2% of its field goal attempts plus 31.6% from deep.

Zoe Alexander led the squad with a game-best 14 points to go along with a ridiculous stat line of seven boards, five steals and four assists on top of that in only 27 minutes.

India Green was the only other student-athlete in Blue and White to log double figure points with ten as it was the true definition of a team effort as all 12 players that got into the contest produced at least three points.

Katie Blackmon was the game's top rebounder, controlling the glass with nine boards.

Patsy Johnson came in off the bench and started dishing out assists as if she was a waitress, serving up eight helpers to lead all participants while nearly tying Blackmon for the rebounding lead at eight.

Next up for Head Coach Eric Jackson and his warriors will head to Nashville, Tennessee for the Fisk Classic to do battle with Cumberland on Saturday (2 pm CT) and Tennessee Wesleyan at noon (CT) on Halloween.
