Lady Bearcats Improve To 6-0 In Defensive Struggle

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College women's basketball program and LeMoyne-Owen College did not even reach 95 combined points between the two of them as Coach Eric Jackson's squad leaned on its defense to secure a 50-43 victory.

The Blue and White held the Magicians to just 25.9% shooting including 11.1% from distance as only one LOC student-athlete could muster more than eight points.

Katie Blackmon fell a single point shy of yet another double-double, going for a game-high ten boards plus nine points as well as one steal, block, and assist.

Jasmine Coleman was the only RC player to hit double-digit scoring, knocking down a game-best 13 points with three of those being triples.

Shay Johnson has evolved into possibly the best point guard in the NAIA, passing out eight helpers to go along with her eight points as she has been masterful with the rock in her hands.

Rust College will face its stiffest challenge to date on Tuesday night as the 15th-ranked Lyon College Scots roll into Holly Springs for a high-profile non-conference clash at 6 p.m.
