Lady Bearcats Escape Tuscaloosa With Overtime Win

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Rust College women's basketball program got all it could handle from a feisty road underdog in Stillman, but the Lady Bearcats clamped down in overtime to sneak away with a 78-72 triumph.

Four of the team's five starters scored at least 11 points led by Katie Blackmon's monumental double-double with a game-high in points (20), rebounds (16) and blocks (3) on 7-of-12 shooting (58.3%).

Shay Johnson made up for a relatively poor shooting night with ten conversions from the foul line to finish with 16 points along with her usual array of assists (7).

Jade Lewis knocked down nearly half of her field goal attempts (6-for-13, 46.2%) en route to 14 points while Jasmine Coleman had a spectacular outing as well at 11 points and eight boards.

The Blue and White will participate in an exhibition match at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee Thursday evening before returning to the hardwood on January 5 in Little Rock to take on Arkansas Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
