Lady Bearcats Lead Wire-To-Wire In Statement Win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Rust College women's basketball program saw Fisk pull even a few times in the open half but never fully went ahead as the Blue and White took care of business, 84-66 in their 2021-22 GCAC debut.

Katie Blackmon continues to look like a frontrunner for GCAC Player of the Year, putting together her second consecutive double-double with game-highs of 18 points and 15 rebounds including a 66.7% shooting night.

Shay Johnson tied Blackmon for the scoring lead while setting the benchmark for assists, putting 18 points, seven dimes, five boards and two steals onto her line.

Jasmine Coleman (17) and Faith Cattouse (12) each tallied double-figures in the scoring department while Zoe Alexander added eight rebounds, seven points and a pair of blocks.

Rust College will try to extend its winning streak to seven-in-a-row on Thursday opposite Tougaloo at 5:30 p.m. in Jackson, Mississippi.
