#25 Lady Bearcats Roll To Seventh Straight Win

JACKSON, Miss. – The Rust College women's basketball program made its return to the NAIA Top-25 on Wednesday and proved it belonged, waxing Tougaloo College by 19 during a second half beatdown.

 

Shay Johnson led the ladies from Holly Springs with 15 points on 53.8% (7-of-13) shooting while also producing a game-best five assists.

 

Katie Blackmon and Maddie Riley both fronted Coach Jackson's team with eight rebounds apiece with the former adding seven points to the ledger.

 

Niya McGuire provided a spark off the bench with ten points, five boards, an assist, and a steal on top of a 71.4% (5-for-7) shooting night.

 

Jade Lewis contributed ten points even, making half of her field goal attempts (4-of-8) to go along with seven rebounds and one of the squad's two blocks.

 

Rust has its eyes set on eight consecutive victories Saturday evening when the Philander Smith Lady Panthers come to town for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
