Shorthanded Lady Bearcats Return To Top-25 With Close Call At Dillard

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College women's basketball program hopes to keep its #25 ranking or at least improve upon it as the year progresses, ekeing by the Lady Bleu Devils inside Dent Hall by a score of 64-58, despite missing three key contributors.

RC commanded a plus-12 rebounding margin without its best post player, Katie Blackmon, converting the offensive boards into 19 second-chance points.

Madison Riley stepped in for Blackmon down low as she snagged a contest-best ten rebounds to go along with eight points, a pair of assists plus the team's lone rejection.

Karyn Ford was the Lady Bearcats' top scorer while playing all of just nine minutes, making all four of her shot attempts and 4-of-6 freebies to put 12 on the scoreboard.

The duo of Faith Cattouse and Lyric Turner each logged 11 points apiece, combining for five of the club's seven three-pointers on the evening.

Amelya Hatch recorded eight points but her most notable contributions came on defense and in generosity, dishing out a game-high four assists on top of three steals.

The final statistical leader for Coach Jackson's crew was Shuntorri Rodgers, swiping a quartet of steals with five boards and seven points thrown in for good measure.

Game two of the GCAC weekend pod will take place Saturday at high noon versus the Wiley Lady Wildcats on the DU campus.
